Fig & Ash Introduces PAY IT FORWARD CATERING to Thank Frontline Healthcare Workers

PITTSBURGH (December 16, 2020) -- Fig & Ash, the recently opened restaurant of executive chef Cory Hughes, has announced the launch of its PAY IT FORWARD CATERING Campaign to thank frontline healthcare workers during the holiday season.


The premise is simple: Interested patrons can purchase a complete catered lunch or dinner for 30 frontline workers ($500 suggested donation) in the immediate vicinity of its Deutschtown neighborhood location, including the hard-pressed healthcare professionals at AGH and the Northside Christian Health Center. 


The ICU department typically needs around 30 staff to run a COVID unit and the ER is almost double that. 


To date, Fig & Ash has received donations to cover three full meals for ICU departments and the ER at AGH. 


The goal is to provide at least one lunch or dinner per day that the restaurant is open (Tuesdays - Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m.) for the duration of the pandemic.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of community support we’ve been fortunate to receive since we opened back in September. With the generous donations of community members we can provide a wonderful meal and much-needed break for our frontline healthcare workers as they deal with this surge of patients,” said Hughes.


The donated meals will include both menu and off-menu items -- including a variety of housemade and healthy soups, wraps, and salads -- in addition to bread donated by partner Mediterra Bakehouse.
